Irish Wedding Crashers

Day 5 of my Irish adventure...although in many ways it seems like I've been here for much longer. Last night we had fun celebrating Kathleen's birthday. A group of us went into Spiddal for a bit--live music at Hugh's and stargazing at the beach, but the real fun started when we got back to the Park Lodge. The hotel was hosting a wedding and after receiving multiple invitations from wedding guests, about 10 students from our group decided to join the fun! The Irish sure do know how to throw a party! The music lasted until 2 am and although most of us went to bed, the party continued until the wee hours of the morning. The wedding party is still staying at the hotel, so we may go join them for "sessions" (live music) in the pubs to night. Definately an experience to remember and we are all hoping the hotel will host more weddings as our semester continues.
Today we went to our first mass all in Gaelic. A pretty church and it was fun trying to keep up with what was going on. We were a little bit confused at the end of mass when they brought out a casket! We're guessing it was a funeral blessing at the end of the mass. The rest of the day was spent largely on a bus. We went to Coole Park and visited the home of W.B. Yeats. A very pretty park, although we were a bit crunched for time. We stopped at Aldi on the way home for our first chaotic shopping experience, but we all have full bellies now!
Still working on the uploading photos situation....I got the pictures on my computer but can't yet get them on facebook....I'll keep working on it!
